A Berks County native, Janine (Umberger) Gurtowski joined the BJCC care team in 2016. Janine graduated from Governor Mifflin High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree at East Stroudsburg University. After developing a passion for the medical sciences through her biology major at East Stroudsburg, Janine pursued and earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from DeSales University.
It was during her clinical rotations that Janine began to develop an interest in orthopaedics. After graduating and passing her licensing exams, Janine joined the staff at the Bone & Joint Care Center, where she is responsible for administering pre- and post-operative care for new and established patients, as well as assisting during surgery. Janine’s more recent training has helped the BJCC develop policies and patient-care processes that are in line with the most current practices and guidelines, and her positive energy and recent experience in a variety of clinical settings is of clear benefit to our patients.
Janine is a member of the Pennsylvania Physician Assistant Society (PSPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
When not in the office caring for patients, Janine and her husband enjoy hiking, skiing, and spending time with their families.
